Desert Island Beauty

July 31, 2016

The other night my friends and I pondered the following pressing question: “If you were stuck on a desert island and could only bring 5 beauty products, what would you bring?”

Granted, if I was stuck on a desert island, my beauty routine would probably not be top of mind. However I definitely have 5 products that I would have a tough time doing without.

1. Tarte Amazonian Clay BB Cream

After years of using cheap drugstore foundation, my cousin introduced me to Tarte’s Amazonian Clay line. It covers up redness and imperfections while still feeling light, and it doesn’t give your face that scary mask-like look. It also has SPF 20, which would be useful on a desert island.

2. Paul Mitchell Lavender Mint Shampoo and Conditioner

Technically shampoo and conditioner probably count as 2 separate products, but IT’S MY BLOG so I’m counting it as one. This stuff smells SO good (I love everything lavender) and helps soothe my scalp, which can get itchy and irritated.

3. The Honest Company Magic Balm

If any product was made for a desert island, it’s this one. I use it for everything from soothing patches of dry skin to taming my eyebrows, which often take on a mind of their own.

4. St. Ives Green Tea Facial Scrub

Nothing works better at keeping my skin smooth and free of redness. It can be difficult to find, so I bulk order it from Target or Amazon in fear it will be discontinued.

5. Boots Botanicals Facial Oil

I was very apprehensive about face oils when they first started to gain popularity, but after using this once, I am completely converted. I apply it after showering and it sinks right into my skin, keeping it moisturized for a full 24 hours. It’s also 100% organic and smells like roses.
