Recently we had a dress code change at work and are now allowed to wear denim in the office (huzzah)! But the thought of wearing my go-to skinnies when the temperature is above 90 degrees is enough to give me heatstroke.
The other night my friends and I pondered the following pressing question: “If you were stuck on a desert island and could only bring 5 beauty products, what would you bring?”
Granted, if I was stuck on a desert island, my beauty routine would probably not be top of mind. However I definitely have 5 products that I would have a tough time doing without.
After years of using cheap drugstore foundation, my cousin introduced me to Tarte’s Amazonian Clay line. It covers up redness and imperfections while still feeling light, and it doesn’t give your face that scary mask-like look. It also has SPF 20, which would be useful on a desert island.
Technically shampoo and conditioner probably count as 2 separate products, but IT’S MY BLOG so I’m counting it as one. This stuff smells SO good (I love everything lavender) and helps soothe my scalp, which can get itchy and irritated.
If any product was made for a desert island, it’s this one. I use it for everything from soothing patches of dry skin to taming my eyebrows, which often take on a mind of their own.
Nothing works better at keeping my skin smooth and free of redness. It can be difficult to find, so I bulk order it from Target or Amazon in fear it will be discontinued.
I was very apprehensive about face oils when they first started to gain popularity, but after using this once, I am completely converted. I apply it after showering and it sinks right into my skin, keeping it moisturized for a full 24 hours. It’s also 100% organic and smells like roses.

You know when you see a piece of clothing online or in a magazine and you are like YES, that is going to be mine and will make my body look perfect and everything will be amazing? And then you finally pull the trigger and buy it and you try it on and it looks AWFUL?
This is not one of those pieces.
I purchased this red striped dress from Madewell last week and I have worn it 7 times. SEVEN. It is just the most perfect, pop over your head summertime dress and works for the office, running errands, grabbing drinks, and anything in between. Everyone from my co-workers to my boyfriend’s Nana has exclaimed over how flattering it is. And when Nana says it’s good, you know it’s good.
Also, can we talk about that model’s hair? Perfection.
